(I was reminded today that I had written a version of this a year ago, and now I hear the Lord whisper to me to post it here…)
Where is your accuser?
Why do you sometimes walk out life with fear, shame, guilt, and feelings of being unloved or not right?
The reason is that you have an accuser. “Satan” in Hebrew means accuser. He lies to you (he is in fact, the father of lies). He tempts you (and only him, as God cannot tempt you). He ACCUSES you.
He is the prosecuting attorney in the supernatural courts.
Guess what? You’ve hired the best Defense Attorney in the natural and supernatural in Jesus Christ!
Zechariah 3:1-4 paints the courtroom scene:
“Next the Messenger-Angel showed me the high priest Joshua. He was standing before God’s Angel where the Accuser showed up to accuse him. Then God said to the Accuser, “I, God, rebuke you, Accuser! I rebuke you and choose Jerusalem. Surprise! Everything is going up in flames, but I reach in and pull out Jerusalem!” Joshua, standing before the angel, was dressed in dirty clothes. The angel spoke to his attendants, “Get him out of those filthy clothes,” and then said to Joshua, “Look, I’ve stripped you of your sin and dressed you up in clean clothes.”
The accuser has handed you a closet full of filthy clothes. These are woven and sewn in the forms of lies and temptations and accusations.
You look in the mirror and you hate how they look on you – but you walk out of the house in them anyway. They are odd-fitting – too tight, too bunchy, too loose, too long, too short, not the right color… Yet you keep them on. You have chosen to believe the lie, and wear a garment the Lord has not fashioned for you.
Jesus stands beside you, before God, and defends your righteousness – given to you by His Blood and His Life. God hears the argument and makes His verdict – “NOT GUILTY!!”
Jesus beckons you today to shed those ill-fitting garments of filth and shame and guilt – and don the pressed white linen He has tailored just for you! Not only will you be ushered out of the courtroom FREE, but wearing “clean clothes” – a ROBE of RIGHTEOUSNESS.
Where is your accuser?
“And I heard a loud voice in Heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been THROWN DOWN, who accuses them before our God day and night.” (Revelation 12:10).
Your accuser has been thrown down.
Yes, this passage is speaking of the Day of the Lord in the end times. But, if you are IN Christ, you wear the Robe of Righteousness and are clothed with power from on high. You fight with weapons of supernatural power, to demolish strongholds. In the name of Jesus, and by His Life, you have authority IN Him to OVERCOME, now!
The very next verse (11) in Revelation says, “And they OVERCAME him (the accuser) by the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony…”
So, yes, in this world you will have trouble (John 16:33). You will be lied to, tempted and accused.
“But, take heart, I have OVERCOME the world.”
This is JESUS talking to YOU! He is IN you. He is WITH you. He has overcome the world (the accuser), and therefore, so can you – IN Him. How? By the blood of the Lamb (Jesus), and the WORD of your TESTIMONY.
Spend time today exercising your authority in Christ. Your accuser will accuse. But you, Son, are an overcomer.
Testify.
