I’ve often said that when you are looking for God everywhere, you will see Him everywhere… because He is everywhere.
While watching my Cowboys lose a heartbreaker to the Packers this past weekend (just what is a catch in the NFL these days?), I saw another example of this reality.
I saw the message of the Gospel in a McDonald’s commercial. Have you seen this?
“Love is Endless” by MoZella is playing in the background of a cartoon medley of classic archenemies… sharing a McDonald’s drink, fry or burger… and loving it, and each each other.
From iSpotTV:
Dorothy & the Wicked Witch of the West take a selfie, Spongebob & Plankton blow bubbles and lumberjacks give love to trees. Even Freddy & Jason come together, over a set of chicken nuggets. A knight spreads the love to a dragon as Super Mario & Bowser share a chuckle over apples with the Smurfs & Gargamel. The Coyote explodes with love for the Roadrunner, and don’t forget King Kong who takes in the view of everything. Together, even with the Grumpy Cat, the love for McDonald’s is widely shared. Choose lovin.’
I wonder if McDonald’s has any grasp on the Big Picture Reality that they are relaying here? Love is indeed the only force in the world, the entire Cosmos, that can reconcile. Only Love knocks down barriers. Only Love removes tensions, bad history, and hate. Only Love overcomes our rivalrous false nature and our violence toward each other, our “enemies.” Only Love moves us from the un-reality of death and into the Reality of Life.
Only Love.
Love is indeed… Endless.
It has nothing to do with chicken McNuggets, a Coke, a soft serve ice cream or a Big Mac. But Love. Is. Endless.
Thank you, McDonald’s. Slow clap.
I’ve just recorded Episode 002 of the Real Life Radio podcast, which is a follow up discussion with Jamal Jivanjee about our initial conversation, Episode 001. You won’t want to miss this one. We get into how to read, understand and approach the Bible, Atonement theory and the Cross. But we also get further into this Love, the Love that McDonald’s probably was not intending to reveal, but is nevertheless clearly revealing for those who are looking. This Love ends “archenemies” and is in effect, Endless. Stay tuned. The podcast will be published on Monday!
