Recognize that, in Christ, we see not only the Pre-eminence of Divinity, but we see Real, perfect humanity as well. When we look at Jesus Living by an Indwelling Life, we see the fulfillment of Eternal Order. Jesus knew His Divinity, but “laid it down” and instead Lived by Divine Life. There is a difference, and seeing it is to better understand the Cruciform nature of the Godhead – ever-giving, Self-emptying, Inter-dependent. When we are renewed in our mind via abiding, we are perpetuating this Eternal Order.
To be fully human is to Live as Christ. This is the Garden, remembered, and restored.
Jesus was always Spirit Divinity. In the Incarnation, we see Him fulfilling the Purpose of the Godhead in uniting this Spirit Divinity with humanity. Jesus came to show us that there was Oneness between Heaven and Earth, Divinity and Humanity, God and Man. There is no separation. He was the Center of this all, the God-Man.
It seems that most of us think of ourselves as mere humans, trying to learn how to live a spiritual life. The essence of religion is trying to climb out of our earthly station and experience – up into a Heavenly one. I now see this differently. If we believe that we were “in Christ” from the foundation of the world – united with Him in His death, burial, resurrection, and ascension – then we are like Him. We are not mere mortals, scratching out a spiritual reality. Our Reality is Him (He is our Reality) – and He United us in both Spirit and Body. We are One Spirit – designed to be cruciform, ever-giving, self-emptying, inter-dependent – in demonstrating our Oneness in a Human form.
The Kingdom of God, near, within, and at hand.
“There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal.” – C.S. Lewis
We, in our new creation, realize Real Humanity. What has been put to death, and left behind in the tomb, is perverted humanity, a lie existence – it is not as God intends. It is not Free. Freedom is realizing the Intention of Real Humanity in the Person and Life of Jesus. This Humanity shares His Divinity, and Lives from it. Like Him, it is not to be considered robbery to share in, and be One with Father. It is who we always, Really were.
To experience Real Humanity, then, is to be awakened to the fact that your Life is in Christ, One, and Divine.
Jesus never allowed His humanity to reign, but instead, submitted it to His Divinity within (His Father’s Indwelling Life and Oneness). In “losing one life,” He “found His Real Life.” The Path is the same for us. We are who we Really Are, whether we realize it, or believe it, or not. The process of waking up is to see that what we’ve believed to be our real, human self is but a shadow of our Real Human Self that Christ made True in us. Once we see this Truth, we can then realize, believe and Live this Truth. Most of us live by a non-reality. This is Hell. Submitting this lie to the Truth of our identity in Him, is to Live by Reality. This is Heaven. To “lose” the false-self (human, but trying to find a Divinity that is already there), is to “find” the True-Self (Human and Divine, always, and already).
Real Humanity is not directed by feelings or emotions. In our new creation, we understand that these are rooted in the soul. This is not to say they are bad, or to be ignored. We are simply not led by them. Real Humanity and Freedom are not contingent upon your feeling One with Divinity, or Free. No, Freedom is captured in Real Humanity, which Lives by Life – and this Life has senses, awareness, sight, and consciousness. These are transcendent of feelings and emotions. Feelings and emotions can respond from, and manifest out of this Life – but they are not Life themselves.
The mind (un-renewed), will and emotions – collectively the soul – cannot be trusted on their own. Of the false self, they will never fulfill the Eternal Purpose, and cannot yield Freedom. This nature, apart from Christ, is rubbish, and no confidence can be placed in it. The upward call is to realize Union, within and without, affixing our eyes upon Him, receiving and Living His Life, from a renewed mind, with His senses, sight and consciousness.
Real Humanity, Freedom, then, is simple – it is Jesus Christ and setting our minds on Him. He is constantly giving impressions from within. Freedom is in the looking, turning, beholding and trusting of Him and His impressions.
“Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty (Freedom).”
Where is the Lord? In you. Where is Freedom? In you. Turning to Him for Life is what it means to be fully, Really Human – One with the Divine, and Free. It’s not a matter of getting something you don’t have. It is a matter of Living by Someone you already have, and are One with.
